What are the responsibilities and job description for the Communications Operator position at Forrest Health?
Job Summary:
Operates telephone switchboard to relay incoming, outgoing, and inter-office calls. Operates paging system and monitors various alarms for all facilities. Demonstrates knowledge and skills to appropriately communicate and interact with the patients, families, and visitors of all age groups while being sensitive to their cultural and religious beliefs. Obtain Public Safety information from internal and external customers, accurately communicates the information to officers, and records the information correctly in the CAD system.
Performance Expectations:
Communicates with patients, families, and other callers in a courteous, friendly manner at all times (face-to-face and via telephone) to enhance patient satisfaction and the image of the hospital.
Responds appropriately to urgent requests (i.e. emergency codes and public safety calls) from internal and external customers in a timely fashion to ensure customer needs are met. Transfers calls in an accurate and timely manner to ensure quality customer care and good business practice. Obtains all needed public safety information (i.e. name of caller, location) from internal and external customers, accurately communicates information to public safety officer, and records the information correctly in the CAD system.
Qualifications:
Educations/Skills
High school diploma or equivalent required. Ability to speak clearly, read, write, and follow written and oral instructions required. Ability to type (enter) correct data in the computer systems.
Work Experience:
PBX experience preferred, however, on-the-job training is available. Some type of public relations work is desired.
Mental Demands:
Must have the ability to interact with others, make judgmental decisions, and follow instructions. Able to function under pressure and in emergency situations. Able and willing to conform to the standards of the hospital.
