A well-established Tennessee-based law firm is seeking a Litigation Paralegal to join their team onsite in Nashville. In this role you would perform a range of substantive case, matter, or entity-related duties. Including preparing drafts of legal and other documents and correspondence for attorney review. Compile, analyze, and summarize information. Coordinate efforts between attorneys, clients, outside legal counsel, opposing legal counsel, other parties, and outside vendors.
Responsibilities:
- Conduct pre-claim investigation, legal research and initial case assessments
- Draft pleadings, motions and appellate documents
- Liaise with clerks of various courts and government agencies regarding procedures
- Review and analyze local filing procedures and outline for upcoming briefs to team members
- Perform administrative duties (calendar hearings and deadlines, organize case files, manage logistics, etc)
- Maintain pleadings and discovery indexes
- Organize exhibits, documents, evidence, briefs, and appendices
- Aid attorneys with large scale document productions and other discovery requests
- Assist with trial preparation including exhibit preparation and coordinating schedules of all involved parties
- Prepare document productions in response to requests and redact documents in preparation for production
- Review medical records and index the same
- Assist with deposition preparation, including exhibit preparation and booking/scheduling of court reporters and all necessary parties
- Extensive knowledge of all state and federal court filing sites for electronic filing and pulling of case documents
- Bates label document productions
- Index and review of incoming client documents
- Organize and prepare ongoing list of assignments on active cases and engage in team meetings to discuss strategy and upcoming deadlines
- Prepare and calendar all deposition deadlines including errata forms and confidentiality designations
Requirements:
- Bachelor’s degree in business or a related field.
- Paralegal Certificate from an accredited ABA program.
- Must possess 3-5 years of experience as a paralegal in a litigation practice.
- Possess an in-depth knowledge of the principles, methods, materials and practices of legal research.
- Experience working with Microsoft Word, Outlook, Summation, Lexis and Westlaw, and other computer programs as needed.
- Should have extensive writing skills to prepare legal documents.
- Strong written and oral communication skills and must be able to convey ideas in a manner convincing to others.
- Ability to handle multiple tasks assigned to them by the attorneys and prioritize them effectively.
- Must be able to work effectively in a fast-paced environment
Salary : $60,000 - $75,000
