What are the responsibilities and job description for the Adjunct EMS Instructor position at Forsyth Technical Community College?
Forsyth Technical Community College seeks dedicated and passionate EMS Instructors to join our EMS education team. Under the supervision of the EMS Program Director and EMS Program Coordinator, the adjunct EMS Instructor will be responsible for delivering high-quality didactic and laboratory instruction for Emergency Medical Responder (EMR), Emergency Medical Technician (EMT), Advanced EMT (AEMT), and Paramedic courses. Instruction will be conducted within both curriculum-based and continuing education programs in accordance with North Carolina Office of EMS (NC OEMS) and Committee on Accreditation of Educational Programs for the Emergency Medical Services Professions (CoAEMSP) guidelines. The adjunct instructor will work closely with full-time EMS staff to support program functions by providing student and faculty support during laboratory settings. The Adjunct Instructor is expected to also work with local community partners in EMS and Fire services and may teach at multiple locations within Forsyth and Stokes Counties.

Required:
- Credentialed as EMT, Advanced-EMT, or Paramedic in good standing with state OEMS (Office of Emergency Medical Services).
- At least 2 years of active EMS field experience (education may substitute for years of experience).
- Proven knowledge of the subject and appropriate educational credentials.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office/Google Workspace and other software tools.
- Ability to work in a diverse environment.
Preferred:
- Level 1 or 2 Instructor credential through OEMS.
- AHA Instructor credentials in BLS, ACLS, and PALS.
- EMS Vehicle Operator Safety (EVOS) instructor or equivalent driving course Instructor approved by OEMS.
- Additional EMS-Specific Instructor certifications.
- Associate or bachelor’s degree in emergency medical science or related field.
- Successful teaching or training experience.
- Familiarity with the on-line platform EMS testing and Platinum Planner.
- Familiarity with the on-line platform Blackboard.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following. Other duties may be assigned.
- Teach classes as assigned by EMS Program Director and EMS Coordinator.
- Deliver instructional activities that are both appropriate and meaningful.
- Adhere to departmental course guidelines and cover SACSCOC approved competencies.
- Prepare course outlines, objectives, and lab activities.
- Evaluate student performance and maintain all required records.
- Maintain communication with community partner agencies.
- Promote the college and the department through public relations opportunities.
- Update course descriptions, objectives, and develop new courses, as necessary.
- Assist in the development and evaluation of EMS programs.
- Maintain current professional credentials and participate in ongoing professional development.
- Assist students with program requirements and participate in college-wide advising activities.
