Position Description
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
Oversight/Support/Leadership
- Investigate and resolve complex employee relations issues with creativity and flexibility and prepare written summary reports
- Drive and oversee all employee relations initiatives
- Confer with administrators and managers regarding employee performance concerns and assist with plans for improvement and terminations as necessary
- Review documentation received from administrators and managers regarding employee performance, and provide guidance and assistance as needed
- Provide support and training for district administrators regarding all aspects of employee relations and human resources management
- Keep up to date with current ER legislation and ensure the information is updated for the District
- Monitor and provide reports on compliance, employee relations and other HR services to ensure that goals are met
- Participate in professional development to maintain current knowledge of HR practices
- Assist with conflict resolution involving employees and responding to grievances
- Lead in developing and implementing HR processes and improvement plans
- Develop, interpret and implement policy and procedures regarding Human Resources
- Oversee Employee Handbook, Substitute Handbook and other annual updates as necessary
- Assist with the coordination of Board of Trustees agenda items

Qualification Requirements

- Bachelor's degree
- Master's degree preferred
- Professional Human Resources (PHR) Certification preferred
- Minimum of 3 years of experience in educational leadership, human resources leadership, or investigative experience
- Experience in planning and delivering employee relations initiatives
- Ability to assess potential problems and make sound judgment around issues that may have an adverse effect on the district from an employee relations perspective
- Comprehensive knowledge of human resources information management systems, including the ability to utilize databases to design and generate statistical and informational reports
- Effective oral and written communication skills and the ability to interact effectively with all levels to include the public, district staff and management
- Knowledge of the District’s human resources policies, procedures and practices
- Good organizational skills, attention to detail and the ability to meet deadlines

Additional Information
- Most activities are performed in a sedentary work environment. Required activities include those found in a normal office setting, including sitting, walking, standing, bending, reaching, operating a computer and communicating by telephone. Work is performed in an office and is subject to frequent interruptions. Attendance at evening events, such as school board meetings may be required. Assignments may involve contact with irate or otherwise emotional applicants, staff and/or administrators. Work is also performed outside of the office for orientations, meetings and investigations. Work may involve completion of analytic and narrative documents with deadlines, involving stressful situations and long hours.
