Job Description
The Quality Control Specialist for Residential Life is responsible for ensuring the cleanliness, safety, and overall quality of the Residential Life buildings at Fort Hays State University. This position performs routine visual inspections of all community spaces and individual rooms within the residence halls, initiates necessary work orders, and performs cleaning tasks when required. The role also includes managing and reporting on maintenance and cleanliness issues to ensure a safe and welcoming living environment for all residents. The Quality Control Specialist will be required to complete mold certification within one year of hire and will report directly to the Director of Residential Life.
Key Responsibilities :
- Conduct weekly visual inspections of community spaces (lounges, kitchens, hallways, etc.).
- Conduct regular inspections of individual student rooms, including cleaning visible pipes, to ensure cleanliness and functionality.
- Identify issues related to cleanliness, maintenance, and safety and take corrective actions, including performing cleaning tasks or submitting work orders for necessary repairs.
- Monitor and assess building conditions, ensuring compliance with health and safety standards, including identifying potential mold risks.
- Submit detailed reports on the status of the facilities, noting any recurring issues or concerns.
- Coordinate with custodial and maintenance staff to ensure timely resolution of submitted work orders.
- Maintain clear communication with the Director of Residential Life regarding building quality and resident satisfaction.
- Complete mold certification training within one year of employment to handle mold-related inspections and issues.
- Provide support during peak periods, including move-in and move-out, to ensure smooth transitions for residents.
- Assist in maintaining an inventory of cleaning supplies and equipment, ensuring availability for necessary tasks.
- Must be able to lift 50 lb
- Must be able to climb a ladder.
- Must be able to work in confined spaces.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
