This individual works under the supervision of the physician/APP and manager and effectively maintains a steady patient flow.
Responsibilities of this position include:
- Rooms patients and reviews health history, addresses preventative maintenance issues and is knowledgeable of age specific growth and development as related to the neonate, pediatric, adolescent, adult and geriatric patient as appropriate. Accurately collects and records data as appropriate at the patient contact and requirements of The Joint Commission.
- Accurately collects and documents vital signs and other measurements specific to neonate, pediatric, adolescent, adult, and or geriatric patient.
- Assists with appointment scheduling of office visits/referrals/diagnostic testing/therapies/surgery. Responsible for working with the preauthorization department or insurance companies to initiate referrals and to obtain approvals, pre-certifications and prior authorizations for medical care and treatment.
- Follows proper Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) usage including donning and doffing.
- Performs laboratory testing covered by CLIA, prepares specimens for transport, and complies with all quality measures.
- Keeps all patient care areas cleaned and stocked with appropriate levels of medical supplies to enhance patient care and efficiency.
- Appropriately maintains and cleans patient care equipment and initiates requests for repairs (or replacements) through appropriate departments as necessary.
- Answer telephone, screen calls, take and deliver messages according to individual clinic practices.
- Conducts proper biohazard waste disposal and follows components of the Bloodborne Pathogen Exposure Control Plan. Follows the FHC clinic decontamination and sterilization policy as appropriate to the specific clinic and equipment needs.
Requirements of this position include:
- High school diploma or GED required
- One to two years' medical office experience preferred
- Ability to effectively communicate, verbally, orally and in writing, in person and telephonically with co-workers, physicians, patients, and patient’s families; and computer skills required
- Medical terminology and telephone skills. Knowledge of proper Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) usage including donning and doffing required
- BLS Certification and C.N.A. or Emergency Medical Technician (EMT) certification required
