Fort HealthCare is a patient-centered hospital and healthcare system serving individuals, businesses and families in Jefferson, Dane, and Walworth Counties and we are seeking a Medical Laboratory Technician or Medical Laboratory Scientist to join our Laboratory team.

72 hours per bi-weekly pay period

The medical laboratory technician and scientist perform, develop, and evaluate a variety of tests to obtain data for use in the diagnosis and treatment of disease.
Requirements of these positions include:
- Performs and accurately documents all routine and special analysis of chemical, microscopic, hematologic, serologic, bacteriologic and immuno-hematologic testing.
- Assures accurate test results by assessing specimen quality, clinical diagnosis, instrument operation and quality control procedures.
- Performs and documents routine and preventative maintenance and troubleshooting on instruments and equipment.
- Monitors turn around time of all ordered tests via turn around time board, pending lists and other available tools.
- Identifies panic test results and notifies physician or nursing units of the results and documents the call.
- Performs a leadership role in the training of new employees and students.
- Performs inventory control.
- Collects specimens from patients of all ages using various collection devices.
Requirements of these positions include:
Associates Degree for Technician; plus ASCP certification or equivalent within one year of employment
Bachelors Degree for Scientist; Bachelor’s degree with completion of approved Medical Laboratory Scientist program. Pass National Board of Certification exam to obtain status as registered Medical Laboratory Scientist within one year of hire; plus must also meet CLIA 88 requirements to perform high Complexity testing.
Both positions must productively interact with other medical laboratory personnel, physicians, nurses and pathologists both within the hospital and from other hospitals and laboratories.
