REPORTS TO: TRA Shift Supervisor-Compliance
DEFINITION/PURPOSE: Compliance Inspector, under limited supervision, protects tribal assets and ensures the integrity of the Fort McDowell Yavapai Nation gaming operations by monitoring the gaming operations and the facility to ensure compliance with state compact, the Nation’s ordinances, regulations, the Indian Gaming Regulatory Act (IGRA), National Indian Gaming Commission (NIGC), and the Minimum Internal Control Standards (MICS)
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS: Essential functions may include the following tasks, knowledge, skills and other characteristics. This list of tasks is ILLUSTRATIVE ONLY, and is not a comprehensive listing of all functions and tasks performed by positions in this class.
TASKS:
Oversees the integrity of the gaming operation; safeguards tribal assets represented by the casino enterprise; verifies jackpot payments; oversees opening, inventory and removal of pull-tab boxes; reviews, investigates and resolves customer disputes; investigates circumstances and situations; provides resolution recommendations and follow-up written reports.
Safeguards the integrity of the gaming devices by regular inspection; witnesses entry into gaming machines for maintenance; keeps up to date knowledge of federal, state and tribal ordinances, laws and regulations governing gaming operations; works varied shifts and days.
Interacts professionally with casino patrons and employees; prepares investigative reports describing rule infractions, incidents and other non-routine events; maintains awareness of possible situations which could compromise the safety of casino patrons and employees; performs other duties as assigned or required.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES/ RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Must be able to work any shift.
- Observes activity on the Gaming Floor and Bingo Hall to ensure that all rules are being followed.
- Writes reports to the Executive Director of TRA of all violations, unusual occurrences, and slot machine problems.
- Communicates with other Gaming Inspector regarding any serious incidents and the parties involved.
- Assist with the certification of new slot machines.
- Must be present whenever a gaming machine’s MPU board or bill content box is opened.
KNOWLEDGE/SKILLS:
- Knowledge of federal, state and tribal ordinances, laws and regulations governing gaming operations.
- Knowledge of the regulations governing the rules and conduct of authorized games.
- Recognize the difference regarding gaming classification
- Ability to work in a smoking environment; work environment consistent with a Gaming Casino in which the noise level can be loud to very loud
- Skill in utilizing a computer and related software.
- Skill in oral and written communication.
- Skill in performing audits
- Skill in applying provisions of the gaming compact, NIGC regulation
- Skill in establishing and maintaining effective and cooperative working relationships with other departments of the Fort McDowell Yavapai Nation Arizona Department of Gaming, vendors, other interested parties and the public.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS/EDUCATION:
1) High school diploma or general education degree (G.E.D) required;
2) Ability to learn Computer programs and monitor the essential functions of the electronic gaming device tracking system utilized at Fort McDowell Tribal Gaming Office
3) One or more year of regulatory compliance or equivalent education or trade school
4) Gaming or work experience that demonstrates an ability to perform the duties and good communications skills to prepare clear and concise reports
5) Working knowledge of the AZ/Tribal Compact Gaming;
6) Candidates selected for the position must be able to pass an extensive background check
PAY RATE: $49,807.09 to $59,768.50
