Evaluation: Job performance evaluated annually in accordance with board policy
Qualifications
- SC Certification in the area of Elementary or Early Childhood is required
- Master’s degree preferred
- Literacy endorsement or completion of ELPD class preferred
- Strong background in math curriculum or literacy curriculum
- At least five years of successful classroom experience in an elementary school
- Outstanding leadership and teamwork skills
- Expertise in the area of best practices for literacy
- Outstanding organizational and technology skills
- Excellent oral and written communication skills
Performance Responsibilities
- Provides individual and small group instruction for identified students
- Conducts progress monitoring for students in intervention
- Screens students to establish proper literacy/math placement
- Assists with the identification process for students who need additional literacy/math instruction
- Serves as a member of the MTSS process
- Participates in student intervention team meetings and district level instructional meetings
- Confers with the principal on the needs of the literacy or math instructional program
- Assists in the selection of the district textbooks and resources
- Participates in the district curriculum development process
- Supports teachers in the implementation of standards
- Assists with the development of literacy or math instructional programs
- Supports professional learning opportunities as directed by the principal
- Participates in professional learning workshops and conferences
- Completes reports and paperwork as required
- Collaborates with the literacy coach, lead teacher and interventionists
- Performs other appropriate duties as assigned by the principal
