What are the responsibilities and job description for the Academic Interventionist Teacher position at York School District One?
Qualifications:
- South Carolina certification as required for the position
- Minimum of five years teaching experience at the elementary/middle level or in specialized reading or math programs with elementary/middle-level students
- Documented evidence of data analysis used to develop student intervention plans
- Documented evidence of student’s meeting or exceeding student projected growth on Reading and Math MAP testing (or comparable academic performance testing)
- Skills in computer word processing, spreadsheets, and databases
- Excellent skills in accurate record-keeping and written and oral communications
- Such alternatives to the above qualifications as the Board may find appropriate and acceptable
- Candidates must be willing to participate and successfully complete Reading Recovery teacher training. Completed applications must be submitted to the Reading Recovery Training Center, Clemson University. A teacher in training will work individually with four reading recovery children per round for part of the day.
Reports To: Principal
Job Goal
- To plan and implement intervention instruction using various data sources to determine the focus of individual and group instructional plans
- To implement individualized intervention plans to aid students in meeting Reading and Math MAP growth goals
Performance Responsibilities
- Teach targeted literacy and/or math intervention to small groups of students daily using research-based strategies and resources.
- Meet regularly with the teachers to collaborate regarding the strategies and methods used to address the reading, literacy, and math needs of students receiving interventions
- Maintains accurate, complete, and correct records as required by law, district policy, and administrative regulation.
- Perform other duties and responsibilities related to literacy as assigned by the supervisor.

Terms of Employment:
190 days per school year; salary and work year to be established by the Board
