Summary:
The Maintenance Technician I is responsible for assisting with routine maintenance and repair tasks for Fort
Mojave Indian Tribe properties. This entry-level role is ideal for candidates with one to two years of experience
who are looking to develop their skills in property maintenance. The Maintenance Technician I works under the
supervision of senior staff to complete work orders, perform basic repairs, and ensure properties are well-
maintained and safe for residents.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

• Assist in performing minor repairs for rental units, including plumbing, electrical, and carpentry tasks.
• Complete assigned work orders under supervision and follow maintenance schedules.
• Support preventative maintenance inspections and basic unit upkeep.
• Learn to operate and maintain tools and equipment safely.
• Communicate effectively with tenants and team members.
• Follow all safety procedures and guidelines.
• Participate in on-call maintenance assignments as needed.
• Perform other duties as assigned.

Qualifications:

• Minimum of 1 year of experience in maintenance, construction, or a related field.
• Basic knowledge of HVAC, plumbing, electrical, and carpentry. Certifications in any of these areas are

a plus.

Education/Experience:

• High school diploma or GED required.
• Associate Degree in Building Maintenance, Facilities Management, or Construction Technology

Language Ability:

• Proficient in English, with the ability to communicate effectively with management and residents.

Reasoning Ability:

• Strong reasoning and logical problem-solving skills.

Computer Skills:

• Proficiency in Microsoft Word and Excel is a plus but not mandatory.

Requirements:

• Valid driver’s license and insurability under the Tribe's auto insurance carrier, required.
• High school diploma or GED, preferred

Equipment, Machinery, Tools, and Material Utilization:

• Experience with housing construction, hand and power tools, and landscaping is essential.
• Prior experience with HVAC systems or certifications in HVAC maintenance is a plus.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

• Strong work ethic, dependability, and ability to meet deadlines.
• Excellent customer service skills and the ability to communicate effectively with diverse groups.
• Proficiency in reading and interpreting work orders, basic math, and measurement skills.
• Familiarity with safety protocols and commitment to maintaining a safe work environment.
• Ability to work outdoors in extreme weather conditions (heat and cold).
• Capacity to lift and move up to 50 pounds.
• Team player who can also work independently when required.

Physical Demands and Work Environment

• Frequent use of hands and fingers for handling and manipulating tools and objects.
• Standing, walking, bending, stooping, kneeling, and crouching for extended periods.
• Ability to work in extreme summer heat and moderate winter conditions.
