Position Overview:
The Middle School Assistant Track Coach will work closely with the Head Track Coach to support student-athletes in their development and participation in track and field events. This role focuses on fostering a positive and inclusive team environment while teaching fundamental skills and strategies that align with the goals of Fort Morgan Middle School's athletic program.
Key Responsibilities:

Coaching and Training:
- Assist in planning and conducting daily practices focused on skill development, fitness, and teamwork.
- Provide instruction in various track and field events (e.g., sprints, distance, jumps, throws) based on expertise and team needs.
- Support athletes in learning proper techniques, event-specific strategies, and injury prevention.

Athlete Development:
- Encourage student-athletes to set and achieve personal and team goals.
- Foster a positive and growth-oriented atmosphere where students feel supported and motivated.
- Monitor athlete progress and provide constructive feedback to enhance performance.

Collaboration and Communication:
- Work collaboratively with the Head Track Coach to implement practice plans and meet strategies.
- Communicate effectively with students, parents, and school staff regarding schedules, expectations, and team updates.
- Coordinate with other assistant coaches to ensure comprehensive support across all track and field events.

Meet and Event Support:
- Assist in organizing and managing team participation at track meets, including warm-ups, event preparation, and logistics.
- Supervise and encourage athletes during practices, meets, and other team activities.

Safety and Compliance:
- Ensure the safety of all student-athletes by maintaining a secure practice and competition environment.
- Adhere to all Fort Morgan Middle School and Colorado High School Activities Association (CHSAA) rules and regulations.
- Promote and enforce proper use of equipment and facilities.
Qualifications:
- Knowledge of track and field events, rules, and techniques.
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
- Ability to work effectively with middle school-aged students and build positive relationships.
- Commitment to promoting sportsmanship, teamwork, and a strong work ethic.
- Current CPR and First Aid certification (or willingness to obtain).
- Must pass a background check and meet all district employment requirements.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Previous coaching or competitive experience in track and field.
- Experience working with middle school students in an athletic or educational setting.
- Familiarity with CHSAA rules and guidelines.
Working Conditions:
- Practices and events may occur after school hours and on weekends.
- Outdoor work in various weather conditions.
- Physical ability to demonstrate techniques and actively participate in training activities.
Salary : $2,600 - $3,120
