Job Summary: The Amherst Public School District is currently seeking candidates for a Second Grade Spanish Teacher at Fort River Elementary in our Spanish/English Dual Language program. This is a full-time and school-year position. Preferred Qualifications: A successful candidate will be enthusiastic about and committed to bilingual education and the program mission. The individual will demonstrate the ability to plan and implement a program of study that meets the individual needs, interests, and abilities of students in acquiring grade level content knowledge and Spanish Language skills. Furthermore, the individual will create a safe and welcoming classroom environment that is conducive to learning, develops students’ academic, language, and social-emotional skills, and reflects the cultures of the student population. Successful candidates will effectively collaborate to meet diverse student needs.
Job Requirements: Applicants must hold a valid Massachusetts Department of Elementary and Secondary Education license as a PreK- 2 and/or K-6 teacher. Applicants must be fully bilingual and able to teach all content in Spanish. Bi-cultural applicants are strongly encouraged to apply. Preferred candidates may also hold an additional license in any of the following areas: Special Education license, ESL license, SEI Endorsement, or Spanish Foreign Language at the appropriate grade level.
