USD 234 has an Elementary Instructional Coach position available for the 2025-2026 school year.
Basic Duties:
At USD 234, instructional coaches work closely with the Director of Academics, building principals, and teachers to create an environment for student success. The Fort Scott School District values growth for all students and seeks to provide teachers with support to ensure this is possible. Instructional coaches work collaboratively to provide strategies, implementation support, and feedback to teachers, while also remaining involved in district-level conversations to ensure alignment across all grade levels. Additionally, instructional coaches work to provide meaningful professional development opportunities to all staff.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in education
- 5 years of successful teaching experience at various grade levels
- Advanced degree or progress toward advanced degree preferred
- Must be willing to become a LETRS Trainer
General Duties/Responsibilities:
- Professional development
- Plan and deliver building and district-level training
- Train new teachers on building-level procedures
- Assist individual teachers as requested by principal or teacher
- Serve as a member of
- Building and District Professional Learning Communities
- Building Leadership Teams
- Student Intervention Teams
- Building MTSS Teams
- District Focus Group
- Other relevant district committees
- Assist in the leadership of MTSS Implementation at the building levels
- Organize and request materials needed for curriculum implementation
- Collect, organize, and analyze student, classroom, and building data
- Assist teachers in
- Developing appropriate goals for growth
- Reflecting on student data to guide instruction
- Coordinate and support interventions for students in Tiers 2 and 3
- Meet with building principals regularly to discuss schedule
- Team teach or assist teachers as requested by building principal or teacher
- Coordinate and administer assessments (MAP, placement tests, FastBridge, etc.)
- Model classroom lessons that include Best Practices in Teaching and Learning
- Partner with classroom teachers to focus on integration of standards and technology
- Work with teams to integrate writing, problem solving, and technology in all content areas
- Ensure fidelity of curriculum/program components
- Remain knowledgeable about
- Current educational research
- Instructional strategies
- Current KSDE mandates
- Build rapport with teachers, students, and administrators
- Promote a safe and confidential environment for teachers
- Cultivate good listening skills
- Serve as a liaison between teachers and district support
