POSITION TITLE: Elementary Principal (25-26 School Year)
FLSA: Exempt
LOCATION: District-wide
REPORTS TO: Director of Elementary Education
BEGINNING: 25-26 School Year
CONTRACT DAYS: 212 Days and benefits will be specified in the employee contract. Contract will be prorated based on the actual start date.
QUALIFICATIONS
- Must meet AR licensure requirements
- Master’s Degree required
- Administrative experience required
- Relevant experience as a classroom teacher required
- Effective leadership skills and experiences
- Proven background in instruction, assessment, and professional development

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES
Comprehensive knowledge of the principles, practices, and procedures of school administration; comprehensive knowledge of the school district’s strategic plan; comprehensive knowledge of the school district’s procedures and organization; comprehensive knowledge of school personnel and human capital management; ability to conceptualize, initiate, monitor and assess new and/or current school-based programs; ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with community stakeholders, administrators, teachers, and staff.
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS
- Instructional leader of the building and assumes responsibility for all aspects of the school
- Emphasizes student achievement as the primary goal and strives to meet the desired student achievement results or performance indicators
- Maintains high expectations and motivation for all students and staff to engage in continuous learning and development
- Communicates effectively both orally and in writing
- Establishes and clearly communicates building priorities, short and long goals, and objectives
- Knows and applies policies, procedures, laws and regulations enacted by district, state, and federal authorities
- Communicates and demonstrates interpersonal skills with students, faculty, staff, and community members to maintain a collaborative culture of excellence
- Oversees the development and implementation of high quality assessments to meet state requirements and track student progress on state standards
- Develops and administers the district’s assessment program
- Assists teachers and administrators in interpreting assessment and evaluation information in making programmatic and instructional decisions
- Manages and supports technology-based assessment systems
- Directs, supervises and evaluates the curricular program of the school
- Recommend staffing assignments
- Supervise and evaluate teaching and support staff
- Supervise the operation and maintenance of the buildings and grounds in cooperation with the Facility Operations department.
- Ensure all certified and classified staff are in compliance with district, state, and federal policies and regulations
- Holds the responsibility for the welfare of all students during school hours
- Supervise extracurricular activities of the school and coordinates activities with other schools in the district
- Attend various school events
- Maintains prompt and regular attendance and demonstrates the ability to maintain positive professional working relationships with others
- Maintain emotional control under stress
- Abide by state statutes, school board policies, and regulations
- Perform other duties as assigned

OTHER JOB FUNCTIONS
- Must have the ability to lift at least 40 pounds occasionally
- May be required to physically move students or equipment weighing up to 40 lbs.
- Ability to endure prolonged standing, walking, sitting, kneeling, occasional reaching above the head or the shoulders, bending, and squatting
