Fort Worth Carrier is a dedicated carrier servicing Dillard’s private fleet since 1980. Our maintenance shop in Gilbert is actively seeking a motivated manager and highly qualified fleet mechanic with a minimum of 5 years of experience working on Class 8 diesel tractors, dry van pup trailers and managing shop operations. Our fleet consists of Cummins powered T680 Kenworth trucks and various makes of pup trailers.
Day shift, Mon-Fri 8:00 am to 5:00 pm
Starting Up to $40 Per Hour Depending on Experience!

Job Summary: Shop Managers will be qualified to perform routine mechanical maintenance on class 8 diesel tractors. Managers must have experience with late model equipment and repair all types of fleet owned equipment efficiently and timely. Our fleet consists primarily of Cummins powered T680 Kenworth Tractors, various makes of pup trailers, dollies, yard trucks and service vehicles.
Job Role: Shop Managers provide safe professional service and represent Fort Worth Carrier Corporation in the best possible public image. Managers perform a variety of duties including supervising mechanics, monitoring inventory, budgeting, inspections, diagnostics, emissions, repairs, and other routine duties. Qualified mechanics must possess their own basic mechanic tools to effectively service class 8 tractors. Managers and Diesel Mechanics are required to adhere to all safety procedures and maintain a good driving record (Class A license or willing to obtain while working), while performing work duties as directed by Fleet Maintenance Director.
Essential Functions:
- Inspections
- FMCSA Inspections
- Bumper-to-Bumper Preventive Maintenance Inspection and Service
- Maintain Preventive Maintenance Schedule
- Diagnostics
- Diagnose all fleet maintenance issues
- Experience with OEM software for electronic diagnosis
- Identify source of malfunctions using a variety of testing equipment including electronic testing equipment
- Identify electrical issues and electronic troubleshooting
- ABS Service including diagnostics
- Emissions
- Diagnose and repair exhaust after treatment systems
- Repairs
- Follow policy and procedures designated to routinely repair all fleet-owned equipment
- Engine Repairs including transmissions and differentials
- Steering Mechanisms
- Air Conditioning System Repairs
- Brake replacement and repair
- Wheel replacement and repair including bearings
- Perform routine repair and maintenance to tractor safety systems including collision avoidance and collision mitigation
- Safety
- Safety oriented and completes required safety training
- Keeps work area and shop clean and clutter free

- Monitor inventory and notify shop manager to maintain proper inventory levels

Job Requirements: Preferred Class A License with Doubles Endorsement but not required. High School Diploma required. Must be able to pass drug/alcohol screen. Verifiable work history. Knowledgeable of DOT regulations. Reliable transportation to and from work. Functional communications devices (IE telephone, mobile phone, etc.) Requires the ability to work flexible shifts in a fast-paced work environment including some weekends.
Physical Requirements: Requires lifting, balancing, and rolling truck tires around the shop that weigh up to 200 lbs. Torque bolts up to 475 foot pounds with push, pull, and overhead action. Working off of ladders with arms extended and above head using tools that weigh up to 10 lbs. Swing up to 8 lb. sledge hammer approximately 2 minutes at a time. Push and/or pull 1500 lbs. of rolling weight. Carrying parts weighing up to 50 lbs., including up and down steps. Walking and standing for up to 8 hours per day. Exposure to outdoor weather and elements periodically including rain, snow, heat, cold, wind, etc. Periodic use of breathing respirator while painting or use of other chemicals in shop. Requires moving from standing to floor level position on knees or creeper multiple times per day. CDL qualified mechanics will require all duties of tractor trailer driver including drop & hook, switching trailers and climbing up/down and in/out of trucks. Requires use of both hands. Bending, twisting, crouching, and balancing required frequently. Listening and auditory skills required.
