Job Title: Defensive Coordinator/College Recruiting Coordinator (All Sports)
Reports to: Athletic Director
Defensive Coordinator:
Summary: To assist Christian parents by helping equip students to embrace biblical truth, strive for academic excellence, and model Christ-like leadership to influence their homes, churches and communities for Christ.
Duties and Responsibilities:
- Instructs athletes in the fundamental skills, strategy and physical training necessary for them to realize a degree of individual and team success
- Responsible for the positive development of players in academics, athleticism, football skills, and in their walk with Christ
- Designs, coordinates, and develops the defensive systems and philosophy used by each of our football teams across the MS and US divisions
- Works with the head coach to establish the progression and implementation schedule of our defensive system
- Mentoring assistant coaches by teaching, leading, motivating, and inspiring.
- Maintains discipline and works to increase morale and cooperation within the school athletic program and school community
- Supervises practices, games, and team trips
- Updates knowledge of technical aspects of the assigned sport and willingness to continue to learn and examine new ideas pertinent to the assigned sport or coaching in general
- Expected to be actively involved in and integrated into the ministry opportunities of the school such as mission trips, service projects, and advisory groups
- Updates the athletic director frequently during season about any issues, concerns, or highlight.
- Other duties as assigned.
College Recruiting:
Summary: The college recruiting coordinator is responsible for assisting in the recruitment process for every high school student-athlete at Fort Worth Christian School that is interested in participating in athletics at the collegiate level.
Duties and Responsibilities:
- Be the main communicator between student-athlete/parents and various college staff members during the recruitment process
- Assist individual head coaches with the following recruitment responsibilities:
- Track and maintain school/university/college calendars and events
- Provide information and recruiting items to send to respective colleges in advance (i.e. film, transcripts, reference letters, profiles, etc)
- Assist or educate athletes, if needed, in filling out questionnaires, profile information, and any other paper work pertaining to the recruitment process, including but not limited to NCAA or NAIA requirements (ex. Clearinghouse registration)
- Keep athletes updated on ACT/SAT testing dates
- Keep athletes updated on any possible financial aid or grant opportunities
- Assist in setting up, announcing, and organizing all signing day events
- Communicate with the SID and any other local media on signing announcements
Qualifications
Defensive Coordinator:
- Exhibit a passion for Christian Education and football
- Experience as a Defensive Coordinator in an established and successful football program on the high school level or above
- Should be an exceptional and proven teacher of the game of football and exceptional coach of young people
- Should be able to intentionally integrate spiritual development opportunities into the program and also be able to use unexpected opportunities to strengthen the walk of his players
- Experience in building and maintaining a championship caliber football program through multiple areas (off-season and in-season, summer programs, team camps, middle school through varsity)
College Recruiting:
- Highly knowledgeable and qualified in the areas of college admissions, requirements, and the overall recruitment process.
- Capable of effectively communicating with high school student-athletes, parents, teachers, counselors, administrators, and coaching staff, in addition to various college staff members associated with athletics, recruitment, admissions, and finances.

- Bachelors degree preferred.
