Length of term: 12 months
The Director of Athletics is a dynamic leader charged with the responsibility of providing Christ-like leadership, management, strategic planning, and commitment to the growth and excellence of the athletic program. The Director of Athletics will build and maintain a successful student-centered athletic program integrated with character development, spiritual discipleship, and a Christian worldview. The Director of Athletics supervises and directs the Athletic Department office staff and all coaches, and presents as the face of the athletic department to the FWC community.
Scope of Responsibilities:
- Coordinate and supervise a cohesive and competitive FWC athletic program for all students in grades 6-12.
- Facilitate off-season player development in the summer.
- Plan and administer the annual budget and allocate funds accordingly to the various needs of the Athletic department.
- Develop and sustain professional relationships with student athletes and families.
- Build relationships with students to ensure adequate participation.
- Plan, coordinate, implement, and evaluate a dynamic, effective and successful athletic program.
- Maintain a high level of knowledge of all TAPPS regulations and policies.
- Approve the final hiring of all coaches and volunteer coaches and ensure references have been checked.
- Manage coach performance, including the development of performance plans.
- Evaluate all athletic programs and personnel on an annual basis. Make recommendations for improvement to the Head of School.
- Maintain complete inventory of all equipment and uniforms within the athletic department. Manage the replacement schedule of equipment and uniforms.
- Oversee Athletic Booster Club and other fundraising initiatives.
- Provide supervision of Athletic Events.
- Other duties as assigned by the Head of School.
Qualifications:
- Committed to living and teaching a life of service to Christ in accordance with the FWC Statements of Faith and Beliefs.
- Possess knowledge of a variety of sports.
- Understanding of overall operations of a thriving athletic program.
- Must be capable of exercising good judgment in evaluating situations, managing priorities, and making decisions.
- Must have strong organizational skills. Demonstrated ability to set priorities and coordinate multiple projects.
- Proven ability to motivate coaches and student athletes.
