Director of Security and Safety
The Director of Security and Safety is responsible for maintaining a safe and secure environment for students, staff, and visitors through education, relationships, and a capacity to respond rapidly during critical incidents. This position reports to the Assistant Head of School for Operations and Security. Anticipated start date is June 16, 2025.
- Oversee the School’s security department to provide the most secure and safe school for students, faculty, staff, parents, and visitors
- Work cooperatively with local law enforcement and maintain existing school relationships with FWPD contract officers
- Maintain high visibility throughout the school day
- Working knowledge of Texas school/private school laws
- Texas DPS/Private security license renewals
- Maintain keys, camera system, access control system, safety app, public announcement system, alarm systems, and radio communication
- Update the crisis management plan annually and lead practice drills with faculty/staff
- Oversee parking operations, including parking decals and speed limit enforcement
- Conduct inspections to identify fire, safety, and security risks; recommend and implement solutions
- Submit and review incident reports and work orders related to fire, safety, and security
- Interview and recommend security officers for employment.
- Train, schedule, and evaluate security department personnel, police officers, and contract officers and conduct timely and constructive performative evaluations
- Instruct students and faculty on matters of personal safety, campus safety, and preventive safety
- Plan, coordinate, and supervise safety education programs
- Familiar with OSHA standards and practice and facilitate training.
- Monitor guests and vendors who are on campus.
- Schedule, conduct, and document emergency drills.
- Manage budget, inventory, and purchasing
- Coordinate with fire department personnel concerning inspections and codes
- Equipment inspections to include but not limited to AED, stop the bleed kits, lab equipment, and asbestos inspections
- Fulfill other duties as assigned
Minimum Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree and/or Law Enforcement/Security Experience required.
- Commissioned to carry requirement
- Computer work is required.
- Ability to operate a motor vehicle required
- Supervisory experience required
- Prior school security experience is preferred
- Surveillance camera system/access control system/building alarm system experience preferred
- Pre-employment physical required
This salaried position requires some evening and weekend hours.
