Job Summary:
The Construction Supervisor is responsible for overseeing the construction, installation, and maintenance of Outside Plant (OSP) infrastructure, including vaults, conduit, and fiber cables. This role ensures projects are completed in compliance with industry standards, safety regulations, and client requirements. The Supervisor works closely with contractors, subcontractors, and internal teams to ensure efficient execution of OSP projects. Must be able to communicate in English and Spanish.
Key Responsibilities:Project Supervision & Execution
- Oversee OSP construction activities, including underground crews (missile and directional drills), vaults installation, and cable pulling
- Ensure projects are executed per design specifications, construction drawings, and industry standards
- Monitor progress, troubleshoot issues, and make on-site adjustments as necessary.
- Submit daily progress reports
Team Management & Coordination
- Supervise construction crews and subcontractors, ensuring adherence to project schedules and safety protocols.
- Conduct pre-construction meetings, daily briefings, and post-construction reviews.
- Train and mentor field personnel on best practices and safety standards.
Quality Control & Compliance
- Conduct site inspections to verify compliance with quality and safety requirements.
- Ensure all work is performed in accordance with local, state, and federal regulations.
- Document and report any discrepancies, change orders, or construction delays.
Safety & Risk Management
- Enforce company and OSHA safety policies to ensure a safe work environment.
- Conduct safety audits and toolbox talks to promote safe construction practices.
- Address safety violations and implement corrective measures when necessary.
Communication & Reporting
- Serve as the primary point of contact for field operations, providing updates to project managers and stakeholders.
- Maintain accurate project documentation, including daily reports, material usage, and as-built drawings.
- Collaborate with vendors and suppliers to ensure timely delivery of materials and equipment.
Required Qualifications & Skills:
- Experience: No previous experience required
- Technical Knowledge:
- Familiarity with fiber optic splicing, cable installation, and construction methods.
- Understanding of GIS mapping, CAD drawings, and OSP design standards.
- Proficiency with construction tools, heavy equipment, and traffic control procedures.
- Certifications (Preferred but not required):
- OSHA 10/30 Certification
- Fiber Optic Technician Certification (e.g., FOA, ETA)
- First Aid/CPR
- Skills:
- Strong leadership and problem-solving abilities.
- Excellent communication and organizational skills.
- Ability to work independently and manage multiple projects simultaneously.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, Outlook).
- Bilingual (English and Spanish proficiency)
Work Environment & Physical Requirements:
- Ability to work outdoors in various weather conditions.
- Must be able to lift up to 50 lbs and perform physical tasks such as climbing, bending, and standing for long periods.
- Travel may be required depending on project locations.
