About the Role:
We are seeking a diligent and detail-oriented Jr. Estimating Engineer to join our General Contracting Estimating Department. The Jr. Estimating Engineer will be crucial in developing accurate, timely, and detailed cost estimates for large, complex heavy civil and mechanical construction projects. This position supports a variety of project delivery methods, including bid-build and design-build projects.
Key Responsibilities:
Cost Estimation:
· Assist in developing detailed and accurate cost estimates for heavy civil and electrical construction projects.
· Support the delivery of well-organized estimates, budgets, and schedules.
Quantity Surveys:
· Accurately measure and list quantities of materials and equipment needed for various projects.
· Independently determine accurate quantity surveys to ensure comprehensive project estimates.
Subcontractor and Vendor Management:
· Prepare detailed work scopes for subcontractors and vendors.
· Conduct thorough analyses of quotes from subcontractors and vendors to ensure competitive pricing and compliance with project requirements.
Scheduling Projects:
· Assist in the creation and maintenance of project schedules.
· Coordinate with team members to ensure all tasks are on track and deadlines are met.
Risk Management:
· Identify and manage potential risks associated with project estimates.
· Implement strategies to mitigate risks and ensure the accuracy and reliability of estimates.
Collaboration and Communication:
· Work closely with project teams, including project managers, engineers, and other stakeholders, to gather necessary information and insights.
· Communicate effectively to ensure alignment and clarity on project estimates and scopes.
Deadline Management:
· Meet critical deadlines for the submission of estimates and related documents.
· Manage multiple tasks and projects simultaneously, maintaining high accuracy and attention to detail.
Qualifications:
· Bachelor’s degree in Civil or Mechanical Engineering, Construction Management, or a related field.
· Strong analytical and quantitative skills.
· Ability to learn estimation software and tools (e.g., Bluebeam, PlanSwift, MS Project, Primavera).
· Excellent organizational and time management skills.
· Ability to work both independently and as part of a collaborative team.
· Strong communication skills, both written and verbal.
Job Type: Full-time
Pay: $65,000.00 - $72,000.00 per year
