Sr. Transmission Relay Engineer

Position Overview
Under limited supervision of the Principal Electrical Engineer or Manager of Transmission and Substation Engineering , the Transmission Relay Engineer will be responsible for designing and applying utility-grade relay systems to the company's transmission and substation networks. This position provides vital engineering support to various operational teams and represents the company at industry meetings and committees.
Core Responsibilities
- Ensure compliance with Company safety, health, and environmental programs for all directed employees, ensuring adherence to governmental regulations .
- Uphold the Way We Work Principles and adhere to Company policies and procedures , including EH&S, EEO, security, and disciplinary standards .
- Foster a customer-centric culture , enhancing trust and confidence among stakeholders.
- Develop relay and meter one-line diagrams, schematics, and construction drawings .
- Perform relay setting calculations for electromechanical, solid-state, and microprocessor-based relays.
- System modeling for fault current simulations and relay coordination.
- Support field personnel in relay system testing, problem analysis, and determination of root cause.
- Prepare outage reports based on relay and DFR records, providing corrective action plans.
- Conduct engineering cost estimates for feasibility studies.
- Witness and report on protection apparatus testing at manufacturing facilities.
- Participate in departmental meetings and serve on industry-related committees.
- Keep department leads informed on project progress and budgetary considerations .
- Stay current with industry advancements in Relay and Transmission Planning.
- Engage in the Company's Emergency Response Plan with designated storm assignments.
- Maintain familiarity with NERC, NPCC, and RFC standards related to protection systems.
