Medical Assistant Instructor

This is a part-time, professional position reporting to the Program Director and/or the Dean of Education. The primary responsibility will be to teach medial assisting courses and prepare the next generation of healthcare providers. The typical teaching load is two courses each term, with one or two preparations. Applicants will also be expected to provide academic advising to students, and participate in department training, meetings and graduation.
The Instructor provides updated and fully prepared instruction to students, actively engages in retention activities and manages the classroom/lab activities.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
- Teaches courses as assigned by the Program Director / Academic Dean.
- Utilizes unit and daily lesson plans.
- Maintains laboratory and classroom organization and cleanliness.
- Actively engages in retention activities including documented communication with both students and administration regarding attendance and progress.
- Records and maintains accurate student attendance and grade records.
- Completes midterm evaluations for each student halfway through the term.
- Regular and reliable attendance.
- Expertise in interpersonal and oral presentation/written communication skills
- Strong organizational and planning skills
- Team player who demonstrates initiative, dependability and reliability
Skills/Competencies/Qualifications:
- Documented expertise in academic area as demonstrated by data sheets, diplomas, transcripts, certifications, resume
- Expertise in interpersonal and oral presentation/written communication skills
- Minimum of 3 years of significant program related/industry experience for Technical Instructor
- A certificate, diploma or degree at the same level as conferred for the program taught.
- Hold RMA, CMA, or CCMA
- Post secondary teaching experience preferred
- Strong organizational and planning skills
- Team player who demonstrates initiative, dependability and reliability
Classification: Non-exempt
Work Hours: May vary daily, and evening and weekend hours may be required on rare occasions.
Job Type: Part-time
Pay: $20.00 - $22.00 per hour
Expected hours: 20 – 25 per week
