Position Summary :
The ST Teaching Lab Assistant assists the Clinical Instructor to promote continuous improvement of the quality of instruction within the Surgical Technology program and is responsible for maintaining laboratory equipment and supplies and assisting students with clinical procedures under the direct supervision of the clinical instructor.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities :
- As a faculty member, fulfills all the functions and responsibilities of assisting in the clinical lab
- Monitors access to the lab
- Opens and prepares lab for the daily procedures
- Keeps laboratory clean and stocked with supplies
- Maintains an inventory system for supplies
- Assists students in clinical lab procedures to ensure proficiency
- Assists instructor in clinical / lab procedures assessment
- Takes inventory of supplies at hand and prepares requisitions for submission and approval
- Assists the instructor with all facets of safety and OSHA compliance
- Assists students in maintaining universal standards
- Prepares the lab for the next class session
- Cleans and closes lab
- Maintains regular and reliable attendance
