The Senior Accountant performs a variety of professional level accounting duties involved in preparing, maintaining, analyzing, verifying, and reconciling complex financial transactions, statements, records, and reports. This position is responsible for maintaining the accuracy of ledgers and financial systems as well as assisting in the preparation of assigned budgets, annual audit, and year end closing.

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:

• Prepares financial reports by collecting, analyzing, and summarizing account information and trends
• Reviews work of AP/AR Specialist for accuracy
• Documents financial transactions by entering account information
• Substantiates financial transactions by auditing documents
• Assists with year-end reporting including, but not limited to, annual filings, audits, valuations, and tax returns
• Maintains investor confidence and protects operations by maintaining confidentiality
• Oversees the billing process for all customers
• Reconciles monthly bank statements and has responsibility for cash management
• Updates job knowledge by participating in educational opportunities, reading professional publications, maintaining personal networks and participating in professional organizations
• Maintains financial security by following internal controls and promoting an ethical environment
• Performs all other duties as assigned

SPECIFIC EDUCATION OR EXPERIENCE:

• Bachelor's degree in accounting or finance required (or degree in business with relatable experience)
• CPA certification preferred, but not required
• 3-5 years of accounting experience
• Experience with financial software such as Sage intacct preferred, but not required

• Regularly required to talk or hear
• Frequently required to use hands or fingers to handle or feel objects, tools or controls
• Occasionally required to climb or balance, stoop, kneel, crouch or crawl
• Occasionally lift and/or move up to 25 pounds
• Vision abilities to include close vision, distance vision, peripheral vision and the ability to adjust focus
• The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate
• Temperature in the workplace is typically moderate, though the ability to withstand seasonal cold and heat of the outdoors is necessary
