We are seeking a detail-oriented and organized Referral Coordinator to join our team. The Referral Coordinator plays a vital role in managing patient referrals, coordinating specialist appointments, and ensuring seamless communication between providers, patients, and insurance companies. This position requires excellent communication skills, attention to detail, and a commitment to providing outstanding patient support.
Key Responsibilities:
- Process and manage patient referrals and orders to specialists and external healthcare providers.
- Communicate with insurance companies to verify coverage and obtain prior authorizations as needed.
- Maintain accurate referral records in the electronic medical records (EMR) system.
- Follow up with specialists and patients to ensure appointments are completed and necessary documentation is received.
- Serve as a liaison between patients, primary care providers, and specialists to facilitate efficient care transitions.
- Ensure compliance with HIPAA and other relevant healthcare regulations.
- Provide exceptional customer service to patients and address any questions or concerns regarding referrals.
Qualifications:
- Previous experience in a medical office or healthcare setting preferred.
- Knowledge of medical terminology and insurance processes, including prior authorizations.
- Proficiency in using electronic medical records (EMR) systems.
- Strong organizational and multitasking skills with keen attention to detail.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced environment.
- Commitment to maintaining patient confidentiality and professionalism.
Education and Experience:
- High School Diploma or equivalent
- California driver’s license
