Job Summary: This entry-level role supports and collaborates with the Director of Accounting & Finance with day-to-day financial operations, including accounts payable and receivable, reconciliations, and data entry. You’ll play a key role in ensuring accurate financial records and supporting the financial health of Forward Thinking Systems.
*This is a full-time in office position located at our Jericho, NY Headquarters*
Essential Functions:
Accounts Payable/Receivable:
- Process and record invoices, payments, and customer transactions.
- Monitor and track outstanding invoices and follow up on overdue accounts.
Data Entry and Record Keeping:
- Accurately input financial data into accounting software.
- Maintain organized records for auditing and reporting purposes.
Reconciliations:
- Assist with monthly reconciliations of bank statements, credit card transactions, and other financial documents.
Support Month-End Closings:
- Help prepare journal entries, assist with financial statements, and provide general support for month-end close activities.
Vendor and Customer Relations:
- Communicate professionally with vendors and customers regarding financial matters, such as invoice discrepancies or payment inquiries.
Assist with Financial Reporting and Audits:
- Support the finance team in preparing reports, budgets, and audit documentation as needed.
Required and Preferred Qualifications:
- Preferred Education:
- Associate’s degree in accounting or related field.
- Required Skills and Experience:
- 1-2 years of experience in similar role
- Knowledge of basic accounting terms and principles preferred
- Demonstrated experience applying a strong attention to detail
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
- Strong customer relationship building skills
- Capacity to multi-task, organize work demands and problem solve efficiently
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (especially Excel) and familiarity with accounting software (e.g., QuickBooks, etc) preferred.
