Job Summary
We are seeking a dedicated and detail-oriented laboratory technician in our Quality Department responsible for performing scientific tests and analyses in a laboratory setting, including receiving samples, preparing them for testing, operating specialized equipment, recording data, and reporting results, all while adhering to strict safety and cleanliness protocols and quality control standards.
Duties
- Perform routine and non-routine sample preparations, tests, and analyses using the appropriate equipment, instrumentation, reagents, standards, and methods.
- Test incoming raw materials and determine acceptability.
- Verify raw material data on vendor supplied certificates of analysis and determine acceptability.
- Test finished castables and determine acceptability.
- Maintain files of test data accurately and in an organized manner.
- Enter test data into statistical program.
- Maintain lab and work area in a clean and orderly fashion.
- Serves as backup for Additives Preparation for Refractory Products Division (RPD).
- Support continuous improvement initiatives by providing feedback on processes and suggesting enhancements.
Knowledge, Skills & Abilities
- Associate degree in Laboratory Technology preferred.
- Minimum of three years of proven experience working as a lab technician or comparable position.
- Strong knowledge of quality assurance principles and practices.
- Proficient in analyzing data related to product quality and performance.
- Familiarity with ISO 9001 standards is highly desirable.
- Solid understanding of quality management systems and methodologies.
- Proficiency in using precision measuring instruments such as calipers, micrometers, and gauges.
- Excellent attention to detail with strong problem-solving skills.
- Ability to work collaboratively within a team environment while also being self-motivated.
