If you’re an experienced leader in the construction industry looking for an exciting executive opportunity, we have the perfect role for you! As the Vice President of Construction Operations, you will play a critical role in driving the strategic objectives of our industry-leading specialty contracting company. Reporting directly to the owner, you will be entrusted with decision-making authority and the responsibility of overseeing all construction operations.

Your leadership will provide valuable insights to the Board while executing the company’s strategy for success. Join us in shaping the future of construction!

Responsibilities :

  • Manage personnel, equipment, and material resources across all territories.
  • Collaborate with Project Managers and Superintendents for successful project setup, execution, and closeout.
  • Monitor and control operational costs and project budgets.
  • Review and refine cost estimates and proposals with Estimators prior to client submission.
  • Create project estimates and proposals when necessary.
  • Enhance and implement safety programs alongside management teams.
  • Take on the role of Project Manager for designated projects and provide support as needed.
  • Be a key member of the Executive Management Team.
  • Establish new client relationships and business opportunities.
  • Coordinate training initiatives for all employees with senior leadership.
  • Regularly update the Work in Progress schedule with the CFO and Controller.
  • Maintain and promote positive client relationships throughout the company.
  • Collaborate with division heads to optimize maintenance shop efficiency, costs, and safety.
  • Foster teamwork and open communication with customers and suppliers.
  • Effectively communicate company policies and procedures to staff.
  • Ensure compliance with safety practices and personnel training.
  • Uphold the company’s reputation through quality and timely project execution.
  • Seek innovative ways to reduce costs without compromising quality or safety.
  • Ensure adherence to management controls to protect company assets and monitor financial health.
  • Assist in resolving complex project issues involving Owners, Engineers, and Contractors.
  • Promote a harmonious work environment and open communication among team members.
  • Manage the identification and resolution of potential project challenges.
  • Conduct regular project status meetings with Project Managers and Superintendents.
  • Provide updates on project progress to all management team members.
  • Ensure compliance with safety, accounting, insurance, and project control requirements.
  • Support Project Managers and Accounting in timely invoice processing.
  • Resolve human resource and performance issues effectively.
  • Conduct performance reviews for team members reporting to this role.
  • Create a respectful and professional work environment for all employees and clients.

Requirements :

  • Exceptional verbal and written communication skills for effective interaction with customers and team members.
  • High proficiency in MS Office applications (Word, Excel, Outlook).
  • Ability to work efficiently under pressure, meeting deadlines while providing excellent customer service.
  • Self-motivated with the ability to complete assignments independently within specified guidelines.
  • High school diploma or GED required; Construction Management or Engineering degree preferred.
  • A minimum of 10 years of experience in heavy civil / heavy utility construction in a Senior Management role is essential.
