The Foster School District seeks an entry-level part -time help desk technician to help maintain our fleet of mobile devices in our High and Middle schools. The Help Desk Technician should have the patience to communicate with various teachers and users. The goal of the position will ensure that our technology end-user devices run smoothly and efficiently throughout the school year.
JOB DESCRIPTION:
The job of Helpdesk Technician is performed under the general direction of the Superintendent. The entry-level position is designed to manage the end-user help desk at both the middle school and high school. The help desk technician will assist in maintaining the uptime for all student and teacher laptop devices. This position will be responsible for the intake and documentation for all device repairs, coordination for ordering necessary repair parts, and providing basic troubleshooting in our help desk locations.
SUPERVISION RECEIVED:
Works under the supervision of the Principal with the expectation that the incumbent will exercise independent judgment as to the types of processes and protocols needed to ensure the maintenance and operation of all mobile end-point devices. Work is subject to review on a periodic basis or upon completion for results achieved and for adherence to professional standards of conduct and quality.
SUPERVISION EXERCISED:
Generally none. The help desk technician is expected to work as part of a team and in collaboration with the Superintendent, principal, secretaries, teachers, and aides in order to perform the functions of the position.

Develop and maintain professional, personal skills and knowledge of emerging technologies necessary to execute the functions of a Help Desk Technician;
Communicates with users to resolve software and hardware problems
Assesses malfunctions of hardware and/or software applications for the purpose of determining appropriate actions to maintain computer and other technological operations.
Document repair process with an internal technical repair depot
Provide basic repair and maintenance procedures to assist the repair depot
Understanding and design of network security, monitoring, and reporting
Perform the functions and duties of the position in accordance with tRI Professional Code of Conduct, and in accordance with all laws, regulations, and school committee policies and directives; and;
Any other duties may be assigned by the Superintendent or his/her designee.
