JJob Description:
The Development Director will be responsible for planning and implementing a comprehensive fundraising program that includes major gifts, corporate and foundation giving, planned giving, and special events. The successful candidate will work closely with the CEO and Board of Directors to develop fundraising goals and strategies.
- Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
- Develop and implement a comprehensive fundraising plan to meet the organization’s annual revenue goals.
- Identify and cultivate major gift prospects, as well as corporate and foundation donors.
- Plan and execute special events that engage donors and raise funds for the organization.
- Manage and lead a team of fundraising professionals, providing guidance, training, and support as needed.
- Collaborate with the Communications team to develop and execute effective donor communications and marketing materials.
- Work closely with the Board of Directors and CEO to develop fundraising strategies and goals.
- Monitor and analyze fundraising data to evaluate performance and adjust strategies as needed.
- Research and apply for grants from government, corporate, and private foundation sources.
- Develop and execute donor stewardship plans to build long-term relationships with individual, corporate, and foundation donors.
- Organize donor appreciation events and recognition programs.
- Assist with Developing and managing the fundraising budget, ensuring alignment with organizational financial goals.
- Provide regular reports on fundraising progress, revenue, and expenses to the CEO and Board of Directors.
- Build strategic alliances with community leaders, businesses, and other organizations to increase visibility and support for the nonprofit.
- Explore and implement new fundraising technologies and platforms, such as online giving campaigns or crowdfunding.
- Stay informed on fundraising trends and best practices to ensure the organization remains competitive.
- Recruit and manage volunteers for fundraising events and campaigns. Provide training and guidance to volunteers to maximize their impact.
- Work with program teams to identify funding needs and develop proposals that align with organizational priorities.
- Ensure alignment between fundraising activities and program delivery.
- Represent the organization at community events, networking functions, and with media outlets to enhance public awareness and donor engagement.
- Establish and promote planned giving options, such as bequests, trusts, and endowments, to secure long-term financial sustainability.
- Compliance:

- Agree to sign a confidentiality agreement regarding all aspects of client, staff, and HOPE information.
- Maintain professionalism in communication, personal interactions, and attire.
- Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
- Strong analytical skills and depth of knowledge in accounting principles and practices
- Proficiency in QuickBooks Online and MS Office; knowledge of Donorview and Salesforce preferred
- Considerable experience with nonprofit fundraising
- Knowledge of development best practices, foundations of individual giving, and the fundraising cycle
- Awareness of common fundraising techniques, tools, and procedures
- Exceptional written and oral communication skills
- Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in nonprofit management, business administration, or a related field.
- Minimum of 5 years of experience in nonprofit fundraising, with a proven track record of success in major gifts, corporate and foundation giving, and special events.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to write compelling donor communications and marketing materials.
- Strong leadership and management skills, with experience managing a team of fundraising professionals.
- Demonstrated ability to work collaboratively with colleagues, Board members, and volunteers.
- Experience with fundraising software and donor databases.
