JOB DESCRIPTION:
The person filling this position will be responsible for the coordination, implementation, and overall management of the HOPE Youth Diversion Program (HYDP). HYDP is a community driven harm reduction program that offers low level youth offenders an opportunity to avoid involvement in the court system by participating in restorative programming and intervention services.
The HOPE Youth Diversion Coordinator will work with the Executive Director to develop the HYDP that serves the community, aligns with the mission of the Foundation of HOPE, and includes a systematic approach to building an effective program for at risk youth.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
- Coordinate all aspects of the Foundation of HOPE's Youth Diversion Program
- Build relationships with local police departments, schools, probation, district attorney’s office, courts, and other agencies serving youth for the purpose of setting up referral sources, coordinating services for youth, and community outreach and spreading awareness of the HYDP.
- Create and maintain a system for referrals, file development, intake, case management, and tracking of services.
- Accept referrals from local police departments, schools, and other agencies regarding youth who are at risk and are displaying delinquent behavior that may have led to law enforcement contact.
- Oversee the development of the contractual relationship between the youth, their families, and the Foundation of the HOPE including the involved paperwork (contract), parent/guardian meetings, check-in schedules, from beginning to case completion.
- Create and oversee a plan for case management including goal setting, steps to completion, and appropriate documentation. This includes acting as a liaison with law enforcement, county services, schools, counseling services, and other outreach organizations to ensure an effective and systematic approach to working with youth.
- Commitment to quality assurance and compliance with industry standards, best practices, and the Foundation of HOPE’s standards and mission.
- Actively participate in supervisory and staff meetings, staff development and other professional trainings, as well as seek out resources and professional development opportunities that would be beneficial to the program.
Community Outreach:
- Assist in the development and presentation of educational crime prevention programs relating to delinquency, gangs and substance abuse among youth.
- Actively participate in community and outreach events focused towards youth services for marketing the FOH and relationship building with community partners.
- Work collaboratively and maintain regular communication with local law enforcement officials.
- Supervision and Management:
- Supervise and manage a staff of Youth Diversion Specialists, Administrative Assistant, and interns
- Ensure that screening, assessments and intakes are completed by the Youth Diversion Specialist
- Develop and implement formal and informal assessments to ensure program objectives are being met
- Develop Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) agreements with community-based organizations
- Establish an overall annual budget and oversee that the budget is kept.
- Oversee and monitor contacts with vendors to ensure that payments are made and the deliverables are being met
- Prepare and submit accurate reports to funders and the Executive Director
- Secure resources to maintain and sustain the program
- Follow HOPE’s policies, procedures and Demonstrate a clear knowledge of the agency’s established policies and procedures, objectives and quality assurance
- Complete all paperwork in a timely and professional manner
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
- Strong project management skills
- Knowledge of the non-profit and human services landscape and referral networks
- Ability to manage complex and multi-faced programming that create measurable successes
- Skilled in assessments, goal setting, and tracking measurable outcomes.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills—ability to effectively communicate with multiple stakeholders, write impactful narratives, and market the program well
- Administratively strong to complete all needed paperwork and reports in a timely manner

- Maintain professionalism in communication, personal interactions, and attire
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s Degree in human or social services or related field, Master’s Degree preferred
- At least five years of management experience
- A minimum of two years of grant-writing experience
- Ability to maintain flexibility and creativity in working a non-traditional schedule to best meet the needs of those we serve
- Must be able to obtain all applicable clearances
- Valid State Driver’s License and insurance
