Food and Beverage Assistant Manager
Note: this is a full time position with benefits and the schedule is variable. Weekly schedule and total number of hours per week will vary each week depending on business levels.

This is a year round position with a variable schedule according to the needs of the business. You will average 30 hours per week, making you eligible for all benefits enjoyed by full-time staff. Prior food and beverage experience is helpful, but not necessary. Incorporated in 1985, Fountainhead Development, Inc., (FDI), specializes in property management and is the largest privately-owned hotelier in Alaska. FDI owns and operates Sophie Station Suites, Wedgewood Resort, and the Bear Lodge. Each of these properties offers guest accommodations, fine dining establishments, and a variety of guest services. In addition, FDI has a Wildlife Sanctuary at Wedgewood, which is a peaceful, 75-acre reserve that is home to an impressive variety of interior Alaska's wildlife. The sanctuary, a model wetlands restoration project, offers nature trails and observation decks.

Position Title: Food and Beverage Assistant Manager
Position Summary: Train, coordinate, support and participate in all front-of-the-house catering and restaurant functions. Reports to the Food and Beverage Manager.
Coordinate and oversee all areas of employee onboarding, training and skill refinement. Create schedules and monitor workflow for optimal efficiency and coordinate closely with kitchen staff for a seamless guest experience.
Duties:

- Assist employees with problem solving and customer relations
- Be familiar with menu items and beverage options
- Direct and assist with catering rooms set up, break down and general cleaning and organizing
- Operate and train others to operate the Point of Sale (POS) system
- Communicate with other hotel employees and managers as needed to meet gust needs and maintain smooth operation of hotel functions
- Oversee pre-opening prep work
- Conduct daily pre-service meetings
- Greet and welcome dining room guests, assist dining room hosts, chart server sections and make changes as needed
- Assist servers and take tables as needed
- Expedite food
- Monitor service levels
- Request help from other departments as needed to support flow of traffic in the dining room
- Cut staff as needed during low-traffic times
- Oversee close day process for servers and verify correct tip and gratuity distribution
- Oversee and verify all cash transactions
- Provide information about the features, services, facilities and amenities of the property
- Operate company vehicle
- Oversee employees assuring adherence to policies and procedures
- Assist with attendance tracking and management
- Observe health and safety precautions required to protect people, and hotel and guest property
- All other duties as assigned
Education, Knowledge and Skills:
- Valid Alaska Driver’s License required
- Clean driving record required
- Previous customer service experience required (hospitality/tourism specific is preferred)
- Supervisory experience preferred
- Computer and Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Publisher) experience required
- Basic mechanical knowledge preferred
- Knowledge of principles and processes for providing customer service, to include assessing needs, meeting quality standards, and evaluating customer satisfaction
- Strong written and oral communication skills, to include effectively conveying information to others in large and small groups, and giving full attention to what other people are saying and taking the time to understand the points being made, asking questions as appropriate, and not interrupting at inappropriate times
- Knowledge of administrative and clerical procedures and systems such as data entry, managing documents and records, and other office procedures and technology
- Able to lift 50 lbs. unassisted and 75 lbs. assisted
- Able to perform with sufficient physical ability and mobility to stand or sit for prolonged periods of time; to perform physical activities that include use of legs, arms, fingers, walking, and standing for long periods of time, to include frequently walking up and down stairs; to occasionally stoop, bend, kneel, crouch, reach, and twist; to lift, carry, push, and/or pull; to operate office equipment requiring repetitive hand movement and fine coordination including use of computer keyboard; to travel to other locations; to verbally communicate to exchange information.

Hours: Variable – depending on tour group arrival times, to include afternoons, evenings, weekends and split shifts
