Our client, a leading apparel brand, is seeking a Design Director - Menswear to join their team in NYC!
Responsibilities:
- Design and develop innovative men's sportswear across multiple classifications, including sweaters, pants, jackets, shorts, and woven garments.
- Collaborate closely with the design team, merchandisers, and cross-functional teams to ensure alignment with brand vision and market trends.
- Conduct trend research and analysis to identify key consumer preferences and translate them into compelling design concepts.
- Create detailed sketches, tech packs, and prototypes for product development, ensuring adherence to quality standards and fit specifications.
- Work with suppliers and manufacturers to source materials, negotiate pricing, and oversee the production process to maintain product integrity.
- Stay updated on industry trends, market competition, and emerging technologies to drive innovation and market relevance.
- Participate in product presentations, fittings, and sample reviews to ensure design intent and quality are upheld throughout the production cycle.
- Collaborate with sales and marketing teams to develop effective strategies for product positioning, promotions, and brand storytelling.
- Maintain a keen eye on product performance metrics, customer feedback, and market insights to drive continuous improvement and optimization.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in Fashion Design or related field.
- Proven experience as a Men's Designer with a focus on sportswear and better goods.
- Proficiency in design software such as Adobe Creative Suite (Illustrator, Photoshop).
- Excellent understanding of garment construction, fabric knowledge, fit techniques, and production processes.
- Ability to adapt quickly to changing trends, consumer preferences, and market dynamics.
- Strong communication, collaboration, and presentation skills.
- Detail-oriented with a passion for innovation, creativity, and continuous learning.
