Our Client, a luxury lingerie and RTW brand is looking for a talented Design Lead focused in RTW.
Design Lead | Job Description
Responsible for the entire design process from inspiration, color story, sketches, and fabric development, to fittings and final prototypes, all following the vision of the Creative Director. This position will focus on an edited lingerie- inspired RTW and lounge collection including knitwear. Must have experience working in advanced contemporary and/or designer.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
● Driving inspiration and complete product assortments for monthly seasonal collections.
● Work closely with Sales and Creative Director on building collection line plans.
● Create and maintain seasonal inspiration and design sketch boards.
● Source appropriate fabrics and trims, working closely with mills to find beautiful fabrics within our targeted price points. Seasonal fabric sourcing, driving trim and embellishment development with PD within target point MOQ and newness.
● Handoff the sketches to the appropriate factories according to their strength and workload, liaise with the team and the factories throughout the development process from proto to final SMS.
- Allocate styles pre season to factories according to their strengths and workload.
● Draping and creating swatch mock-ups in the studio through design process.
● Oversee inhouse print development.
● Work closely with the Lingerie Designer to ensure collections are cohesive and work together
● Managing communication and strong relationships with all vendors - factories, mills, etc.
● Book, manage and oversee RTW development fittings and a clear handoff of fitting comments to the pattern makers or factories, working with production and Creative Director to ensure perfect garment look and fit - from
1st proto through TOP.
● Establish design calendar pre season to ensure on time deliveries.
● Work closely with sales team on exclusive products or changes based on buyer feedback.
● Request feedback from sales and online to constantly understand best sellers and adjust assortment accordingly.
● Present seasonal fashion trends for both ready to wear through magazines, influencers, fashion shows, shopping and street style.
● Eager to work at a fast paced company, keeping a calm and positive demeanor
● Oversee PD as well as manage and mentor design team in collaboration with senior lingerie senior.
● Approve all lab dips and trims for Bulk and ensure design integrity in production fittings up to TOP.
● Responsible for seasonal RTW development budget ensuring cost efficiency through 1st proto to SMS.
Negotiating for better costs.
● Execute 4 seasonal collections Under Creative Director, ensuring brand identity, variety in assortment of categories, colors, fabric and textures that also align with lingerie
Qualifications and Experience:
● 7 years design experience in advanced contemporary or designer fashion
● Bachelors degree in Fashion Design preferred
● Must have design experience working with laces, silks, boning, and underwire, draping
● Must have extensive fit experience
● Experience developing wovens in the NYC garment district and overseas factories
● Flexible to deadlines, working in an entrepreneurial environment
● Possess high fashion aesthetics
● Fantastic eye for color, fabric and detailing
● Excellent flat sketching and techpack skills
● Highly motivated, enthusiastic and organized
● Advanced Illustrator/Photoshop skills
● Excellent communications skills and interpersonal skills
● Design calendar adherence
** 5 Days on site with some flexibility on WFH Fridays.
Salary : $100,000 - $130,000
