STATUS: Full Time, 178-day Classified Position
REPORTS TO: Director
POSITION SUMMARY: The Building Blocks Teacher Assistant is the lead teacher of a Building Blocks classroom providing various professional tasks that are primarily instructional in nature.
PERFORMANCE RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Provides kindergarten preparedness instruction to classroom students using the Highscope curriculum, or another approved curriculum.
- Provides on-going communication with parents regarding student performance, student concerns, classroom events, program information, and tuition collections. Conducts two parent/teacher conferences, first and third quarter to discuss student assessments/performance.
- Provide direction and delegation of non-instructional responsibilities to classroom Aide.
- Supervises students during play periods, recess periods, lunch periods, and while moving from one place to another.
- Communicates regularly with Program Director, and Building Principal to ensure program/building procedures are being met.
- Leads individual, small groups and large groups on practice, reinforcement and follow up activities.
- Checks and prepares instructional supplies and materials.
- Attends all scheduled meetings/training events.
- Monitors students during practice activities.
- Supervises students during lunch periods.
- Files and organizes student work.
- Assist students with toileting.
- Responsible for classroom record keeping, tuition collections, and all other administrative tasks.
- Other duties as assigned.
QUALIFICATIONS:
- Minimum 60 college credit hours OR previous preschool experience.
- Demonstrated aptitude for the work to be performed.
