Primary Job Responsibilities

· Provide prompt, accurate and efficient member service

· Interview loan applicants and provide information on consumer loan products that best meet the member’s needs. Request and review all required information and documentation to secure a loan.

· Assist member in completing loan applications in person, over the phone and/or electronically.

· Obtain and evaluate credit reports.

· Calculate debt-to-income ratios on consumer loan applicants.

· Identify collateral needs and payment plans for members applying for routine loans.

· Run values on collateral to determine loan to value

· Sell warranties/insurance on consumer loans

· Notify applicants of loan decision. Correspond with members, applicants, and creditors to resolve questions regarding application information.

· Recommend and outline terms of loan. Inform prospective borrowers of loan commitments.

· Develop and maintain interest-rate structure that is consistent with credit union policies and is competitive with current market.

· Review regulations as they apply to installment/revolving loan security agreements.

· Manage delinquent account files for the credit union.

· Maintain an up-to-date and comprehensive knowledge on all credit union products and services

· Maintain up-to-date and comprehensive knowledge of policy and procedures in which the credit union follows

· Promote all services offered by the credit union as it pertains to members’ needs and benefits of having such products

· Keep members informed of credit union services and policies, including types of available accounts, interest and dividend rates, payroll deduction options and other related services

· Understanding and monitoring of fraud prevention and detection procedures

· Ensure that lending work area is kept clear of clutter and area is kept clean and organized

· Opening and maintenance of new Membership Accounts at time of loan closing if applicable

· Setting up and creating ACH payments for members’ loans

· Respond to members’ requests, problems, and complaints, and/or direct them to the appropriate person for specific information and assistance.

· Record, track, release and file liens/titles in a timely manner

· Making sure members loan folders are organized and filed away

· Perform all other duties as assigned

Must fully understand credit union products and services and be able to assist members to use these products and services. Have the responsibility to have a cooperative and positive attitude toward members and credit union staff while maintaining a professional appearance and demeanor.

Must be able to speak, read and write English and Spanish (bi-lingual)

Ability to read and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence, and memos. Ability to write simple correspondence. Ability to effectively present information in one-on-one and small group situations to members, and other employees of the credit union. Ability to listen and comprehend instructions being given.

Ability to operate standard office equipment and tools, such as personal computer, postage machine, fax, copier, telephone and 10 Key

Familiar with basic products and services offered by competitors and how they differ from those offered by the credit union

Must demonstrate the ability to achieve individual and team goals

Basic computer operating skills with beginner to intermediate skills in Microsoft Office (Outlook, Word, Excel)

Cash handling skills, good math skills, effective communications, positive attitude and willingness to promote the credit union products and services
