Our client (a large publicly traded chemical company) is looking for a Product Application Development Manager to support their U.S. operations. The ideal candidate will be responsible for managing key projects involving the design, development, manufacturing, testing, sales / marketing of engineered plastics products. The candidate will manage and organize internal and external teams for new product development and frequently interact with the Director of Sales / Marketing, Director of Quality, Director of Engineering, and external clients. The Manager – Product Application Development will directly manage / lead a team of technical service and application development professionals.
Requirements and Responsibilities :
- BS in Chemistry, Chemical Engineering, Materials Science, or Polymer Science.
- 5 plus years of experience in plastics, plastics compounding, flexible packaging, polymer additives.
- Ability to lead the sales / market development effort and bring new products from concept through commercialization.
- Interface with New Business Development and Business Manager to plan, prepare, implement, and lead technical product / application development projects and goals in line with segment needs, industry trends, and business strategy.
- Actively participate in assigned project teams. Acquire product information through market research and regional input to assure projects meet the needs of the intended markets.
- Identify market trends, issues, and competitive environment and form strategic plans for product brand or sub-segment.
- Lead the effort to initiate new product strategies in the form of supporting existing brands and / or sub-segment and creating new products.
- Evaluate the needs of product marketing and sales personnel on a global basis and initiate strategies that meet regional and worldwide requirements.
- Work across multiple internal and external groups such as design, packaging and labeling, regulatory claims, advertising, and sales force education.
- Experience in a highly regulated manufacturing environment is a plus.
- Certification in PMP and MCPM would be helpful.
