JB Products, Inc. a subsidiary of FPC International, Inc., is seeking a detail oriented, personable and resourceful to join our Purchasing team as the Buyer. In this role, the Buyer will be responsible for overseeing JB Products’ procurement of materials, ensuring timely delivery, cost efficiency, vendor reliability, inventory management, and cross-departmental collaboration to support production and operations. Location: South Bend, IN, in-office (6851 Enterprise Dr.)
Work Schedule: Day shift (M-F, 8 hours/day)
Reports to: Director of Operations (who is located onsite).
Team Dynamics: On a team with a Purchasing Manager, Purchasing Assistant, Production Manager, and Customer Services group.
Certifications: None required.
The Ideal Candidate will have: At least one year of purchasing experience, preferably in manufacturing. Strong communication skills and the ability to work independently. Inventory experience is a plus.

What you’ll be doing:
- Places and tracks purchase orders for raw materials and consumables to meet JB Products production needs.
- Develops and maintains strong relationships with vendors to ensure reliability and cost-effectiveness.
- Monitors and manages inventory levels, identifying shortages and coordinating replenishment.
- Utilizes Excel for forecasting, tracking, and analyzing purchasing data, costs, and delivery schedules.
- Communicates updates on order status and delivery timelines to internal stakeholders.
- Address supply chain disruptions, vendor issues, or material defects to minimize production delays.
- Collaborates with production, warehouse, and other departments to address material needs and resolve issues.
- Ensures all procurement activities adhere to JB Products’ policies and compliance standards.
- Identifies opportunities to improve purchasing processes and reduce costs.
Background you’ll need:
- High school diploma or GED equivalent.
- A minimum of one to three (1-3) years of purchasing, procurement, or supply chain experience in an increasingly expanded role, preferably in a manufacturing environment.
- Understanding of procurement processes and supply chain management principles.
- Awareness of market trends, pricing strategies, and sourcing best practices.
- Knowledge of contract negotiation and vendor management.
- Advanced proficiency in Excel
