Job Title: Buyer

Job Overview: We are seeking a highly organized and detail-oriented Buyer to join our dynamic manufacturing team. In this role, you will be responsible for sourcing and purchasing materials, components, and supplies essential for production and operations, including Maintenance, Repair, and Operations (MRO) items. You will work closely with internal stakeholders, suppliers, and vendors to ensure timely and cost-effective procurement of materials while maintaining high-quality standards.
Key Responsibilities:
Material Sourcing & Procurement
- Identify and evaluate suppliers of raw materials, components, and MRO supplies.
- Negotiate pricing, terms, and conditions with suppliers to secure competitive and cost-effective procurement agreements.
- Place purchase orders, track deliveries, and monitor supplier performance.
- Maintain accurate and up-to-date records of all purchasing transactions and inventory levels.
MRO (Maintenance, Repair, and Operations) Management
- Procure spare parts, equipment, tools, and other MRO supplies required to keep machinery and production lines running efficiently.
- Work with the maintenance and engineering teams to anticipate and plan for MRO needs.
- Manage inventory of MRO supplies, ensuring availability without overstocking.
Inventory Control
- Collaborate with production and warehouse teams to manage stock levels and ensure materials are available as needed for production schedules.
- Work with the inventory team to track and optimize inventory turnover.
- Ensure effective management of safety stock levels for critical materials and MRO items.
Vendor and Supplier Management
- Develop and maintain strong relationships with suppliers and vendors.
- Regularly review supplier performance and ensure compliance with quality standards, delivery timelines, and contractual terms.
- Evaluate and resolve any issues related to product quality, delays, or non-conformance.
Cost Management & Budgeting
- Monitor purchasing expenditures to ensure they align with the budget and financial targets.
- Assist in cost reduction initiatives and process improvements to drive savings while maintaining quality standards.
- Assist in forecasting material and MRO needs based on production and maintenance schedules.
Cross-functional Collaboration
- Communicate regularly with engineering, production, and maintenance teams to understand requirements and improve the procurement process.
- Provide support in planning for new product introductions, product changes, and project requirements.
Qualifications:
- Education - Bachelor's degree in Supply Chain Management, Business Administration, or a related field (preferred).
- Experience -
- Minimum of 2-3 years of experience in a purchasing or buyer role, preferably within a manufacturing environment.
- Experience with MRO procurement is highly desirable.
- Familiarity with manufacturing processes and inventory management is a plus.
