POSITION: DIRECTOR OF FOOD SAFETY AND QUALITY ASSURANCE (FSQA)
EMPLOYER NAME: FPL FOOD, LLC.
Position Duties:
- Develop and execute the FSQA Department business plan that addresses short and long-term strategies to improve our people, products, and profitability in alignment with the FPL Food Vision, Mission, and Core Values, and Food Safety and Quality expectations.
- Drive continuous improvement in the areas of Food Safety and Quality Assurance by identifying and setting goals for key performance indicators.
- Build and maintain a strong team through effective recruiting, training, coaching, and team building. Provide feedback to direct reports on a constant basis (i.e., appraisals, coaching, etc.) that will lead to their continuous improvement. Ensure the development and implementation of FSQA’s succession and contingency planning activities.
- Support FSQA plans and activities via active participation in the Global FSQA Counsel and through the administration of Global Systems and Policies within FPL Food.
- Support operations by providing direction that ensures compliance with all customer requirements and federal, state, and local food, animal welfare, and environmental regulations as applicable to beef processing.
- Support sales team by providing technical sales expertise at the appropriate level within key customer’s management team.
Position Requirements:
- Bachelor’s or foreign equivalent degree in Food Science, Microbiology, Animal Science, or a closely related field and 2 years of experience as a food safety or quality assurance manager or related occupation.
- 2 years of experience must include each of the following within the beef industry:
- Interpret U.S. legislations and regulations including environmental regulations and Federal regulations related to animal welfare;
- Use Statistical Process Control (SPC) Report to analyze and keep a check on product quality and safety in beef manufacturing processes;
- Investigate and report quality related issues, market withdrawals, and recalls;
- Implement internal audit control processes in the quality assurance/food safety arena; and
- Analyze food safety or quality deviations, regulatory non-compliances, GFSI audit findings, or any other deviation in product or process.

Travel:
- Director of FSQA position with FPL Food, LLC is based out of Augusta, GA and may require 35% travel to, and work at, the FPL Food, LLC offices in Thomasville, GA.
