Summary of Position:
Food Safety Quality Assurance Technicians play a critical role in ensuring our customers receive the highest quality beef products. These technicians actively monitor, troubleshoot, and collect data to ensure that our Food Safety and Quality Assurance Systems are functioning as designed, meeting regulatory requirements and company standards.
Essential Functions:
- Perform operational quality checks and ensure HACCP monitoring procedures are properly followed.
- Communicate and collaborate with USDA personnel to ensure products and procedures meet all regulatory requirements.
- Conduct and document pre-operational sanitation inspections to ensure cleanliness of production lines, equipment, and surrounding areas.
- Monitor and enforce GMP, SOP, SSOP, and HACCP programs, and ensure corrective actions are taken for any non-conformances.
- Calibrate equipment used for food safety and HACCP compliance.
- Report quality or food safety issues to a supervisor immediately.
- Monitor metal detection equipment functionality and take corrective actions if necessary.
- Ensure that out-of-specification or retained products are identified with hold tags, and that information is properly documented and tracked until disposition is determined.
- Monitor meat quality, complete AQL paperwork, and take corrective actions when necessary.
- Monitor code dates to ensure accuracy and take corrective actions if needed.
- Inspect packaging and labeling for quality issues, taking corrective actions as required.
- Ensure product temperatures are within specifications and take corrective actions if they are not.
- Perform weight control checks and address any discrepancies.
- Take on additional duties and projects as assigned.
Work Schedule:
- This position requires availability to work Monday through Friday, with mandatory Saturdays on occasion.
- Shifts may include hours such as 4:00 AM to 1:00 PM and 7:00 AM to 5:00 PM.
Education:
- High School Diploma or GED preferred.
Preferred Experience:
- Experience in Quality Assurance within the food industry.
- Knowledge of SSOP, GMP, and USDA regulations.
Job Competencies:
- Basic math skills.
- Basic computer proficiency, including Microsoft Word, Excel, and Outlook.
- Ability to work in both hot and cold environments.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Ability to multi-task and prioritize tasks effectively.
- Ability to work with minimal supervision.
- Strong attention to detail and ability to maintain accurate records.
- Knowledge and understanding of USDA regulatory requirements.
