Job Overview
FPM is a heat treating company. We are seeking skilled Furnace Operators to join our team. The ideal candidate will perform operations required to control equipment in accordance with specific heat-treat processes and practices.
HOURLY RATE PLUS 3RD SHIFT PAY PREMIUM.
Responsibilities
- Operate and monitor furnace equipment to ensure optimal performance during production runs.
- Pull work from incoming or in-process storage areas. Prepares work for processing in the appropriate equipment conforming to shop order or departmental instructions.
- Reviews all shop order instructions, customer paperwork, and appropriate charts to ensure all products conform to customer specifications.
- Records all required information, such as furnace temperatures and load and container locations. Verify and signoff/initial on shop orders that work has been processed accurately.
- Obtains supervisor approvals for all process deviations. Breakdown loads and move products using forklifts, charge carts, or hoists. Monitor all processes, gas flows, temperatures, time and quench settings.
- Ensure all equipment is functioning mechanically correct and record required information on charts. Must operate all equipment within safety standards and know where and when jobs will be completed and what additional operations are to be performed on furnace work.
- Understands and follows all departmental work instructions, pass departmental In-House Task Tests, and be able to work safely and follow all Company policies/procedures. Must pass certification requirements to be a licensed fork-lift operator
- Maintain a clean and organized work area, adhering to all safety regulations and protocols.
- Performs other duties as may be assigned.
Experience
- Proven experience as a Furnace Operator or in a similar role within a manufacturing environment is preferred.
- Hands-on experience in operating industrial machinery.
- Must be a self-starter and have the ability to work independently; Speak, read, write English and understand, and follow written and verbal instructions.
- Basic math skills are necessary for performing furance set up and operations.
