Kaiser Transport, Inc. is a freight consolidating Trucking Company based in Janesville, WI that specializes in hauling machines, equipment and all other types of freight. Kaiser Transport, Inc., is currently seeking a full time Equipment Operator.
The Equipment Operator's work schedule is based on business need. The business need is normally a 2nd shift range of hours, but flexibility will be required.
Job Responsibilities:
- Unloading/Loading freight on 48' trailers to maximum capacity both volume and weight using forklifts rated up to 35K lbs by stacking and packing freight safely on our trailers
- Assist in spotting, bracing, and blocking of freight
- Chaining and strapping freight to trailer
- Padding and Tarping of freight
- Own the safe and efficient operation of all yard equipment
- Own the equipment operator documentation responsibilities
- Assist in loading, tarping, and securing freight when needed
Equipment Operator must excel in operating equipment in (but not limited to) the following categories: Forklifts up to 35,000 lbs, Skid Loader, Yard Dog, Tractor, Backhoes, and Scissor Lift, Snow Plow (when applicable), and all other equipment that the company hauls and moves/loads. Equipment Operator must follow all company procedures and policies as well as identify opportunities to drive profitability.
This individual must be able to support an environment that creates the highest sense of urgency around serving our Driver core at the highest level. Prepare for and participate in all department related meetings. Support the training of new drivers and yard personnel. Assist with all yard operations or yard maintenance. Assist with control of Yard Inventory.
Requirements:
- Capable of safely operating a forklift with up to 35K capacity
- Previous rigging experience is beneficial
- Speak and Read English
- Able to Understand and follow verbal and written directions from supervisor and/or co-workers
- Self motivated and be able to work without direct supervision
- Must have reliable transportation
- Must have free movement of wrists, arms, and hands
- Must have average to excellent body coordination
- Must be able to work from heights; from ground level to possible heights of 20 feet
- Ability to lift and carry up to 130 pounds
- Ability to Push & Pull from moderate to maximum effort
- Ability to bend at waist and kneel while possibly lifting at the same time
- Ability to reach/twist in conjunction with pushing, pulling, climbing, kneeling, and bending Have adequate body balance to climb, bend, lift, and crawl onto, around and over cargo
- Good Hearing and vision -- Must pass a color vision test
- Required to work outdoors in all weather conditions
- Have the ability to travel and work at our other terminal(s) for up to 3 weeks if needed
Offers of employment will be contingent on drug testing, background checks and a post-offer physical assessment.
This is a full time position position and you must be available 50 hours weekly, and weekends based on business need. The Equipment Operator work shift normally starts at 4pm daily and ends based on business need. You must be comfortable working outside year round in all weather conditions.
