Position Overview:
The Director of Accounting is a senior-level leadership position responsible for overseeing and managing all accounting functions within the organization. This individual will lead the accounting department, ensuring the accuracy, integrity, and timeliness of financial reporting. The Director will play a key role in strategic decision-making, provide financial analysis, ensure compliance with all relevant accounting regulations, and develop and implement accounting policies and procedures. The Director will work closely with other departments, including finance and operations, to support overall business goals.
Key Responsibilities:

Leadership & Team Management:
- Lead, manage, and mentor a team of accountants and the administrative staff, ensuring efficient workflow and professional development
- Foster a collaborative environment focused on continuous improvement, accountability, and the highest standards of financial reporting

Financial Reporting:
- Oversee the preparation and delivery of accurate and timely financial statements, including balance sheets, income statements, and cash flow reports
- Ensure compliance with generally accepted accounting principles (GAAP) and other regulatory frameworks, including relevant tax laws and financial reporting standards

Budgeting & Forecasting:
- Lead the budgeting, forecasting, and financial planning processes for the organization
- Provide detailed financial analysis to guide management decisions and strategic business planning

Internal Controls & Compliance:
- Develop and enforce internal controls to safeguard the organization's assets and ensure the integrity of financial reporting
- Monitor compliance with financial policies, procedures, and external regulations, working closely with auditors during audits

Accounting Operations:
- Oversee the monthly and annual closing processes, ensuring accuracy and timeliness in financial reconciliations
- Manage accounts payable, accounts receivable, payroll, and other general accounting functions

Strategic Analysis & Reporting:
- Provide in-depth financial analysis and insights to senior management, identifying trends, variances, and areas for cost-saving opportunities
- Assist the CFO in strategic planning by offering financial perspectives on potential investments, projects, and business initiatives

Process Improvement:
- Identify opportunities for process improvements, automation, and efficiency in accounting operations
- Implement best practices in accounting and financial management to enhance the quality and speed of financial operations

Collaboration & Communication:
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams, such as finance, operations, and executive leadership, to ensure alignment with organizational objectives
- Communicate complex financial data in a clear and concise manner to non-financial stakeholders
Qualifications:

Education:
- Bachelor's Degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field; Master's Degree preferred
- CPA (Certified Public Accountant) certification required

Experience:
- Minimum of 8-10 years of accounting experience, with at least 5 years in a leadership role or 5 years in with audit firm and 2 years in a leadership role
- Experience in financial reporting, budgeting, forecasting, and managing accounting operations in a corporate or multi-departmental environment
- Knowledge of financial regulations, GAAP, and accounting software (e.g., Enterprise systems, Excel, Fixed Asset Systems)

Working Conditions:
- Standard office hours with occasional overtime required during month-end and year-end close
