Role Overview:
· Reporting to the Director of Technical Design - Denim, the Senior Technical Designer of Denim will provide vital support to maintaining the integrity of the brand through fit development, vendor communication, and process implementation during the preproduction fit process.
Responsibilities:
· Managing workflow and workload for own product and ensure product areas are maintained with cross-functional team; gather information and update all reports as necessary.
· Manage fittings and partner with fit models to properly execute the design vision for fit and function
· Supporting the management of SMS tech packs and bulk tech packs/ fittings flowing to vendors for multiple seasons at a time
· Provide complete and articulate fit comments in a timely manner via Full Circle tech packs (includes any needed point of measures, sketches and/or digitals) emailed to vendors.
· Develop and maintain proper fit throughout the development process by providing vendor with detailed, image driven fit corrections, referencing vendor patterns, and following “best practices” for pattern shape and balance
· Delegate organization and storage of all samples seasonally within the team.
· Ensure size and fit consistency across product categories.
· Track the reference style numbers in tech packs by having reference style numbers in Full Circle fit comments.
· Spec and evaluate samples prior to fittings, coordinating & delegating with the team as needed
Technical Skills & Abilities
- Proficient in determining and communicating fit corrections.
- Proficient in construction standards and manufacturing methods.
- Proficient in Adobe Illustrator and sketching.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office Applications (i.e., Excel, PowerPoint, Word)
· Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
· Ability to proactively trouble shoot and problem solve daily.
· Collaborative team player.
· Exceptional organizational skills required.
· Ability to proactively self prioritize workflow based on deadlines in a fast paced environment.
· Ability to travel internationally.
· Respects and adheres to processes implemented. Can assess and suggest process improvements as needed and work with the team to ensure existing and new SOPs are upheld and productive.
· Time management and prioritizing in fittings as well as day to day is crucial.
Education and Experience
· Minimum of Associates degree in Apparel Manufacturing, Design, Patternmaking, or technical trade school and / or equivalent
· Minimum 5 years experience in denim apparel product development and / or technical design
