Under the supervision of an Administrator I in the Receiving and Data Storage Section (RDSS), the Staff Services Analyst (SSA) is a technical resource. The incumbent performs analytical work of entry level difficulty with increasing independence and assists in activities related to the analysis and support of the department’s services and projects that have direct impact on the Receiving and Data Storage Section. The activities may include analysis of RDSS system capabilities, requirements, and user specifications along with drafting change orders (CO) and change requests (CR) and obtaining approvals.


Position may be extended to up to 24 months or become permanent.

Working Conditions

  • This position is eligible for limited remote working within California based on departmental guidelines and operational need. Once training is complete, FTB has a minimum in-office requirement of four days per week for all positions including those that are eligible for telework.

  • Knowledge of and experience with Franchise Tax Board (FTB) systems including Taxpayer Information System (Tl), Business Entities Tax System (BETS), Accounts Receivable Collection System (ARCS), Integrated Non-filer Compliance (INC), Withhold at Source System (WASS), Department of Motor Vehicles (DMV) Registration Application, Enterprise-Wide Bankruptcy System (EWBS), or comparable systems
  • Knowledge of Enterprise Data to Revenue (EDR) applications including Return Analysis (RA), Taxpayer Folder (TPF) and Case Management (CM), or comparable systems
  • Strong working knowledge of the Microsoft (MS) Office programs (Outlook, Excel, Power Point, Visio, Teams, and SharePoint)
  • Ability to create and maintain reports that capture daily data
  • Knowledge of pipeline processing workflow
  • Ability to effectively communicate verbally and in writing
  • Familiarity with the department's programs, policies, organization, and functions
