Franciscan Healthcare is looking for an Insurance/Billing Specialist to provide staff support in maintaining and operating the business systems, keep accounts receivable current, maintain all aspects of insurance and billing business and process unpaid accounts.
Hours: Minimum 35 hours/week
ESSENTIAL JOB DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
· Process billing calls, questions and answers correspondence related to patient accounts
· Submits claims on a regular schedule; follow up on unpaid claims and resubmits
· Maintain all appropriate records, reports and files
· Correct inaccurate insurance information; correct patient accounts if there are billing errors
· Research all information needed to complete billing process; works error list, aging report and credit balance reports monthly
· Work delinquent accounts based on aging period and payment sources; follow up on accounts until zero balance or turned over for collection
· Process and post charges and payments
· Investigates billing problems and formulates solutions
QUALIFICATIONS:
Education and/or Experience
· High School Graduate
· Minimum of two years business office experience or other related field experience
· Associate Degree in Business Administration or other related field, preferred
Other Competencies
· Ability to maintain confidentiality of sensitive information
· Proficiency in accounting and ability to use computer automated accounting systems to manage accounts.
· Skill in operating a computer and calculator; knowledge of computer hardware, word processing and spreadsheet programs, and data communications
· Knowledge of medical office procedures and insurance company operating procedures
· Knowledge of grammar, spelling, and punctuation
· Skill in use of communication methods to elicit information, negotiate problem resolution and garner support for various programs or projects.
· Skill in establishing and maintaining effective working relations with co-workers, patients, vendors, and external agencies
· Ability to exercise initiative, judgment, decision-making
· Ability to communicate clearly
· Ability to process patients and public inquiries and respond with poise and efficiency
· Ability to work with a diverse group of people
Job Type: Full-time
Pay: $18.00 - $25.00 per hour
