What are the responsibilities and job description for the EKG Technician position at Franciscan Health?

WHAT YOU CAN EXPECT
- Testing- Identifies and reports critical results to providers.
- Test Results- Prepares images and data in a preliminary report in designated reporting system such as cardiology PACS or EMR system prior to physician reading the study.
- Quality- Participates in quality improvement activities for the department.
- Patient Care- Ensures that all patients are calm and relaxed during the process allowing for quality test output.
- Equipment Management- Monitors equipment throughout the test to ensure equipment is functioning properly.
- Patient Care- Makes appropriate accommodation to 12 lead EKG test such as performs right sided EKG for suspected right ventricular infarct.
- Patient Safety- Oversees the use of EKG equipment ensuring safe operation.
- Patient Care- Administers cardiac stress testing for exercise and pharmacological stress testing.
- Patient Care- Applies cardiac rhythm monitoring equipment, Holter monitors/event monitors and ambulatory mobile telemetry monitors. Explains how the patient is to interact with the equipment such as recording symptoms, pressing alert buttons and calling into hospital or appropriate service provider.
- Patient Education- Explains the function and process of EKG exams to patients prior to the test.
Qualifications
- Required High School Diploma/GED
- Required within 90 days of hire Basic Cardiac Life Support (BCLS)
- Preferred Certified EKG Technician Preferred
