IBM Z has partnered with Franklin Apprenticeships to develop a one-of-a-kind training program to provide you with unique skills sought after by Fortune 500/1000 companies across the country. The Franklin Apprenticeships mission is about connecting passionate, eager, and highly motivated technology talent with employers struggling to find these "new-collar workers.”
These technology careers are in great demand, with starting salaries that are higher than many college graduates. These IBM/Z systems are critical to commercial databases, transaction servers, and applications that require resiliency, security, and agility. Many business-critical systems in the world economy depend on data that resides on the mainframe and many companies are struggling to find employees with the right skills.
We will provide you with access to a free, online, self-directed pre-apprenticeship program. Where you will be introduced to topics including:
• Introduction to Computer Science
• Introduction to z/OS
• Systems Programming on IBM Z
Upon successful completion of this pre-apprenticeship training course (approximately 110 hours), qualified applicants will be interviewed by IBM’s end-user clients for hire as a paid apprentice into the IBM Z® Apprenticeship Program for US Employers. You will earn as you learn while mastering skills like:
• deploying and managing operating systems
• implementing, monitoring, configuration management, and reporting
• executing change management
• implementing system security
• coding and writing simple programs.
This pre-apprenticeship program is free to all applicants and no previous technical experience is required. To be successful in this program you need strong problem solving, critical thinking, organizational skills and the drive and eagerness to learn.
